N.D. 04:28
oh as a child i still remembered where i have been before i watched the mountains grow could even see the rivers overflow out of the stately banks of old but then Ganga was sunken* great drone had died down the mount of Gods decayed how could I lose my memory how could I lose my knowledge of the mountains and the trees of the rivers and the oceans now sixteen years later i’m wrapped in a sheet of ice and all I watch today is a slowly coming tide of slowly burning life burning too slow fire too low to explode and move the continents now I hear the roar of the machines sardonic laughter of spectators the world says, "you are nothing to me, i’m so sorry now you may die, your life is insured" *"The Waste Land" by T.S.Eliot, line 395

going up the white church hill there is so much to be overviewed below in the valley of dying stars for our hearts now full of grass our heads are no more stuffed with straw brains moistured with cherished rain church bell rings and we’re coming to the entrance door walking down Highbourne avenue all buildings covered in silver-golden glaze renaissance skies gazing dreamily the guardians of knowledge leaning peacefully in their chairs and follow saying sleepy ‘bye’ but can we stay for just a little while? sorry but no, we are closed and you are supposed to leave and you made more mistakes than the times when you tried and you wanted to make an escape but didn’t know where or why thinking of what’s left in the past there isn’t much to be understood with silly memory that alters things or silly sentiments for silly youth nothing is hidden behind this tree nothing is written on its bark we might not have left our marks in history but we have left them in each other we have left them in each other nothing is hidden behind this tree nothing is written on its bark we might not have left any mark on history but we have left it in each other yes, we have left it in each other

Last Night 04:58
last night i dreamt you crying saying you can't take no more and you wake up in fear but i woke up a cold stone this night i dreamt you smiling all glowing in light so warm holding a bird on your palm but i woke up a dead log in a room in the world where hues are lost among faded objects in the neighbourhood dogs are barking they talk thus exchanging echoes in landplots enclosed and the world is humming and the world is droning it did since the sounds appeared but when does the first sound start? the sound of your voice must be its descendant oh shall it ever fade out? no nothing ever fades out no nothing ever fades out! even on the ruins of time that sweeps away the last of remaining temples and she, she said you don't exist, i don't exist, we don't exist but i woke up in tangled sheets and knew exactly i am here her measured breath, her sleeping eyelids and hair there in the dark were but a mare's nest in silent summer air you don't exist, i don't exist, we don't exist and she woke up in the neighbourhood dogs are quiet, they must be sleeping now and birds are chirping, already woken up and the Earth is glowing and the town is dawning bugs are buzzing and cats are meowing and the river slowly flows

escaping memory a sunny windy day and a shadow of a blossoming apple tree in the backyard i took up my guitar started picking this melody moments coming into my house again why? i didn't call them i don't think i needed them she was so far away i was so far away my eyes were equally wide in the sunlight though one was blind and i thought i hated her cause life is not all the same how can i hate my love? how could i hate my love? she'd say it's just a full moon tide she'd say it's just a full moon tide

Water Theme 05:12
down the path where we crumpled to the dead end where we stumbled now looking at the Sun setting over the Atlantic from the beach of god-forsaken bay where our feet left puddles engraving signs only known to us day after day night after night reading in moonlight sacred letters scripted in the language of waves meaningful and meaningless

Chant 03:18
dear brother i loved you till we started falling into the abyss and all we see above and all we see above now is just a flock of cranes quietly leaving this place dear sister, go hide yourself up in the mountain top's snow and mist see the air is burning the water is dying oh she remembers the things we've done to ourselves and her we took pills tranquilizing our conscience we took blood for wine of the triumph but here and now it matters no more soil beneath our feet is getting liquid just as we dreamt in our old childish fever but here and now we ain't kids anymore dear Mother

Phoenix 06:35
so you're going to the opera house to find things you can't find at home and then then you listen and then you grasp, i've been living so alone i've been living on parole, i am living now it all behind and where i sit be a start of a whole new world born out of burning ariette conceived among the stars on dome and chandelier's molten candles chandelier's melted candle and the curtains close and the audience rise never ending applause bellowing in the Berlin blue night sky maybe years ago you have already heard but did not understand and you burnt the last straw leaving ash in your hand, and you turned into ash and now you're phoenix so you're going to the holy house divine things ain't the words the speak, you think, if there's no shit, there ain't no sacred how do i know if the world is ancient how do i know if the moment is fleeting how do i know if it's not repeating again and all over again and again

Interlude 4 03:41

so we came here out of nowhere and we don’t know where we will go do you think it’s just being transient my friends or merely our only way between the void and the void between the warmth and the cold between the two and none between the birth and the death between circumstance and inevitable those frequent nights when we sought for the solution pressing lips keeping eyes wide rambling along moonlit vineyards or falling free in prickly water but back in our house we also talked about how we perceive each instant what has no end just seems unreal and what is real now is only time being age limit time being age limit time body age limit time space age limit now from the top of the island mountain i see the Earth as it unfurls through the grey clouds now on the coast of this endless ocean i see its waves rising over rocks sprinkling my face but is it breeze and salt spray that make me shiver like that? and then i look up the sun hides the eternal no more the clouds dissipate and what i see is that we don’t basically see anything because there’s no time being age limit no time no being no age no limit time space age limit no time no body no age no limit

Which of Us 05:40
which of us has known his brother which of us has looked into her father’s heart which of us has not remained forever prison-pent which of us is not forever a stranger and alone* all these people you are leaving have another look at them have another look in their eyes just see they are as alone you are not alone and those walking with the stars are dreamy as you are praising pink moon they pray for the good of all and wait for someone who will offer them a hand wait for someone who might understand feeling the presence of each other we still fumble in space groping in blindness of our cells the world of lit windows in houses distant and close the glow in her eyes and what’s behind you cannot see and what’s behind mind of yours nobody ever sees it’s just a black box where you are hidden where everyone’s hidden you are getting used to it i’m getting used to it Universe brought to a cranium you are getting used to it i know, we all are getting used to it Universe reduced to a brain forever prison-pent but shall we ever free ourselves? *these words are from the first paragraph of "Look Homeward, Angel" (1929), a novel by Thomas Wolfe

about

Recorded in May '15 when the four of us gathered in Samara a year after we went on hiatus. It's our first and probably only attempt at a full-length record as Wood and Volk. The songs were written in the period from early 2013 to early 2015.

This album was made possible thanks to the people who supported our crowdfunding campaign - we are hugely indebted to them.
